Romany Oriental Dancer — Artist Webiste Artist Contact

My life started in the city of Ljubljana, where I was born and still live. Belly dancing came from Skopje, Macedonia, where my father came from along with my whole Roma family on his side. I enjoyed it very much when we went to visit our relatives in our village. Then I was just a little girl and, as an observer, I attended several authentic Gypsy rituals at the weddings, festivals and dances.

Gypsy girls danced the “cocek” – the Romany belly dance. They wore authentic costumes called the “chalwaree and yelek” (from Persia).
When I was older, I danced with girls my age or solo since I always had my own special style.

After finishing high school, I got a job. After 15 years of full time work in a post office and later in Adria Airways, I began a more creative, artistic kind of work.
My daughter Ejka was born in 1993, and from 1996 on, I was active in the Jolly Molly Theatre playing four different shows for children all over Slovenia. We put out a music CD for children entitled “Joli Moli,” with 20 original songs that we composed.

After that period of working with children, I got a job in the well-known MOIRA ORFEI Circus from Italy. Ejka and I travelled and lived with the circus for 6 months.
After that I started to dance and perform, making connections with authentic teachers of this dance in Istanbul, Vienna, London, and New York.
I have been teaching classes of belly dancing for 5 years now. I am a professional entertainer as a solo dancer or in a group of three dancers, called Trio Nur. We perform for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, parties, business meetings, etc
